Georges Octors Conductor
A winner of international competitions, Georges Octors began his musical career as a violin soloist,performing in the major European countries.
He made his conducting debut with his own orchestra,the Antwerp Bach Society Chamber Orchestra wich established a considerable reputation for itself in Europe.
He subsequently became assistant conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra in 1960 under his teacher , André Cluytens and in 1975 Georges Octors himself took over as the conductor and music director of this orchestra.
In addition to these duties, Georges Octors'experience and extensive knowledge of music made him famous all over Europe. He led the Gelders Orchestra in Arnhem (Holland) as their regular conductor for ten years.
Furthermore he developed his career by guest-conducting a large number of orchestras in East-and West Europe, the USA and Russia, famous orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Society,Seoul Symphony......
He conducted the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels from 1976 until 1989 without interruption.
Georges Octors was music director of the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia from 1991 till 1998,putting this orchestra on the highest level.
With this orchestra he recorded numerous works and received outstanding reviews from critics in Paris,Italy, Belgium and the USA . (Diapason,Fanfare).
Georges Octors is regularly invited as jury member of International Music Competitions such as Queen Elisabeth Competition Brussels ,Competitions in Japan, Germany etc.
