Ernst van Tiel Conductor
While studying percussion and piano at the Conservatory of Utrecht as well as afterwards,Ernst van Tiel was attached to the Dutch broadcasting orchestra which included his coöperation in many recordings in the field of classical- and jazzmusic.
From 1988 onwards Ernst van Tiel studied conducting with Lucas Vis,Gary Bertini ,Franco Ferrara and Jean Fournet.
In the Netherlands Ernst van Tiel has conducted the major orchestra’s among them the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra,where he acted as assistant to Valery Gergiev in many productions.
Recently he has made his debut with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo,where he was re-engaged immediately for several productions .His production with this orchestra and the Mariinsky choir by accompany Eisenstein’s historical movie Alexander Nevski with Prokofiev’s music was a huge success.
In 2009 Ernst van Tiel will make his debut at the Philharmonie Luxemburg and Cité de la Musique Paris
After a very successful debut at the Kirov opera in St.Petersburg in productions of Lucia di Lammermoor and Rigoletto, Ernst van Tiel has been invited by Valery Gergiev to conduct Electra and as a result of this wonderful collaboration, Ernst van Tiel will reappear at the Mariinsky theater in several productions during the upcoming seasons.
